Support Groups

At Lighthouse, we realize that everyone grieves differently — for this reason, our groups are ongoing and open-ended. Families can stay with the Lighthouse community for as long as they need, to actively explore their grief in their own time.

Lighthouse peer support groups are offered for children, youth and young adults ages 3-24 years, at no cost to families. Grief-related themes are explored through talk circles, games, expressive arts activities, and play, led by professional staff and trained volunteers.

Lighthouse also offers online support groups for those who cannot attend in-person or who would prefer to participate from home.

A little more about our groups…

  • Groups are held in a welcoming, safe, and home-like environment
  • We meet bi-weekly in the evenings throughout the school year
  • Children and youth attend separate groups according to age and developmental stage
  • Groups for specific types of loss are available whenever possible
  • Peer support groups for parents and caregivers run concurrently to the children and youth groups
  • If you require transportation to groups, or devices for online groups, we can help!
