Ian Hopkins

Coordinator of Support Groups

Ian joined the Lighthouse as a volunteer group facilitator in 2012. After 6 years in that role, he joined the staff team as a Group Leader. Prior to his involvement with Lighthouse, Ian worked for several years in the film and television industry and then at Imperial Oil, before leaving to assume the vital role of stay-at-home parent. During this time Ian raised his two sons and volunteered as a coach of youth sports. Ian holds a BA from the University of Ottawa and has a certificate in Children’s Grief and Bereavement from the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health Learning Institute. He brings his many years of experience working with youth, along with his own personal experience as a grieving teen, to his role at Lighthouse. In his spare time, Ian enjoys punishing himself by closely following and supporting Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Unfortunately, it’s an unrequited love.
